I've been chewing on Ephesians 3:20 this week. And it's brought me to this question if God truly is able then what are we believing in that isn't God's truth? Ephesians 3:20 says this:
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever Amen.
When I study God's word I not only time the time to look at each word, I like to really understand what I'm reading and the only way for any of us to do that is to ask the Holy Spirit to bring a revelation to God's word that will direct us in righteousness. So, let's look at some profound words in this verse.
Now to Him who is ABLE - having the necessary means, skill, know how or authority. God the Father, through Jesus Christ by the power of His Holy Spirit is the source of everything we need.
He's able TO DO EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL that WE ASK or THINK - To have what we need exceedingly and abundantly is more than enough. Have you ever heard of wishful thinking? It's those thoughts that are the deep desires of our heart and because God knows our thoughts (Psalm 94:11) and what we are going to ask for before we verbally do so. (Matthew 6:8)
According to the POWER THAT WORKS IN US - The power that works in us is the Holy Spirit. He is the person of the Holy Trinity that keeps us from stumbling! (Jude1:24) Stumbling from what exactly? Our desires of the flesh - or our Human nature. Temptation causes us to sin and yet because God knows the desires of our hearts, He gives us this power, His grace, to deliver us from sin and to keep us from it.
to BRING HIM GLORY in the body of Christ Jesus, the body being the believers of Jesus Christ - the CHURCH- to all generations forever and ever. Amen
So, the questions we need to ask is this:
Am I allowing God to do what only He can do?
Am I believing God's power works through me exceedingly abundantly to deliver me and to keep me from sin?
